On May 9th we celebrate Europe Day becuase it is the anniversary of the funding of the European Union.
This is an opportunity for our students to get familiarized with our neighbouring coutries, the institutions, the culture, the maps, the flags, the languages...
It's also called Shumann Day, because Robert Shumann was one of the founding fathers of the European unity.
Every year a differet counrty holds the presidency of the European Union and has a motto. This year it is "Recovery, strenghth and sense of belonging.""
This year, aside from the classroom activities, in our school we play a " European Music Game". During one week, every morning we will receive our students with a traditional song from a random European Union country. The student are given a sheet with the map of Europe and a list of five possible countries. They will have to write the day of the week next to the song. Previouisy, as a flipped classroom activity, at home they could investigate and listen to European traditional music. This a way to motivate our student to become interested in knowing about our neighbouring countries.
